Hello, thought I'd update again...

I still have the job, plus school, boyfriend and sports, and it's all working together quite well att he moment. Saying that has probably jinxed the entire thing but never mind. I'm not superstitious.

Anyhoooooooo, had to write an essay on (sociology) "assess how functionalists have contributed to our understanding of families and households". a lengthy 24 mark essay, I say lengthy because after written it must be learnt for use in the final exam. First time writing it took about an hour, exam time is a mark per minute so it's difficult. Fun though...

Alyosha (head of the Ham Brigade, my hamster) is in his ball trundling round. Every time he hits something loud I jump like I've sat on a sleeping cat. :D

the coming of the weapons of math destruction

That would be, in other words, my A-Levels, in which the only numbers I have to write are the date and time. It's a beautiful thing.

I got a job, folks! Interview was surprisingly easy and the new employer is really thoughtful (read: nice)- he said they don't want to get in the way of my full-time education but might ask me for help at some times during the week. Tomorrow I'm going to go in search of a job for Friday nights because that's the time everywhere needs help. Hoping from about eight onwards because I go skating.

Aha,haha, hahahaaa, I currently own a new pair of shoes (courtesy of mother in reward for getting the job) and I'm sat here wearing them. They are from Marks and Spencer, size eights (my feet are shrinking!!!) and they are Men's shoes because those are always more robust than women's. I did make an effort and have a look but they were all either ugly, or impractical, and in some cases both...or they were £85 which is far too expensive.

To dye or not to dye? Hair, purple, maybe... Don't know how it would go with the job though. The first thing people see on holiday is, I'm sure, not a fluorescent blob wending its way towards them through the breakfast tables.

bonjour, and hello

Well, I finished my GCSEs, got my grades (not as good as I would have hoped but it's only my fault, didn't study well enough) and I'm into Sixth Form. But first!

A note to my friend Jancis, who may or may not be reading this blog. Hallo! Wie geht es dir? (She's not actually German but we share that class). Jancis also has a witty blog which I have just read quite a lot of... And while you may be thinking "What are you doing, stupid girl? Do your homework!" I am actually saving it for later-no lie- because I get bored at home with the family and it gives me something to do then. I've already done most of it, you should see my planner. Everything in orange (highlighted) is finished, and that's eighteen out of twenty things in there at the moment that are complete. I'm staying on top of the work this year- very easy because the work is all in subjects I have interest in so I do it as soon as I want.

Secondly, I went to France again this year, in the holiday. It was so hot, and we drove down. "Parents" (mother who does not act like one, and her boyfriend who needs reigns) drove us to the south, and we spent a week there, quite near the coast. However, Reigns-man's (mum's boyfriend's) daughter has Eczema to the EXXXXTREME, so we only swam in the (very salty) sea once. I learnt a tiny bit of French, namely, "Bonjour", "Merci Beaucop" and "ferme" (good day, thankyou very much and closed).

A new image of myself is coming to light; I've been taking protein shakes (yum) which I've mixed myself, and I'm stronger already. I was lacking in protein because I don't often eat meat, or the right foods, to get the correct amount. However, now everythig is pretty good.

Had a MASSIVE argument yesterday with the family. Told Reigns-man that his daughter fell asleep when she came home from school (we're not allowed, we're not exactly children any more- she's eleven) and he seemed to take it in his stride, though not well, when I told him he needed to tell her not to do that, and make it perfectly clear I was fed up with it.
What ensued was that he talked to her about it and she said I had bugged her all afternoon about every single little thing (not true) and that she'd felt upset by this (she was unconscious, so also void). He proceeded to get very angry at me, and my mother protected me.... Which may or may not have been a bad idea, because it made him feel worse. Anyway, he spouted off about us all nagging his daughter. This hadn't actually happened. She lied... But didn't get told off for it. How the heck is she supposed to learn if every time he tells her off he softens the blow? That's not how it works.

It's like sending somebody to prison for murder, but saying before they go, "Don't worry, mummy will be there to tuck you in all night and you can have a cell with a massive Televison to stop you getting bored." WTF.

In other news... Law, German, Governmenst and Politics, Sociology, Critical thinking and my life in general are going well. I got my level nine for basic skating, and I was really pleased with it- only ine more level to go now! I've paid for the lessons myself and it's quite expensive, plus £95 (about $146.50) for my boots alone. It's an expensive sport, but I love it.

See you soon! apologies about lack of updates, I've been busy. Now I'm settled everything should be back to relative normality.

a new beginning

well, it's been a short while since my last post and I would like to update and tell you all that things are going quite well so far! For a little look into my mind check out my other blog (http://asinglecurl.blogspot.com) and see what you think. It's not really got a lot of posts as this is my main blog but you get the point.

After all this revising and studying and all that coursework I am finally at the point where I have my exams. I love exams; you're in a quiet room with lots of other people and the slightest noise makes you jump and you get a chance to show everyone how clever you really are rather than being like your normal self as you are in lessons. In exams nobody distracts me and I always have time for everything and I enjoy it.

I'm into my classical music at the moment. There's some quite upbeat stuff out there, like Beethoven's Pathetique (I like the third movement) and Mozart's Symphony 40, which is somewhat crazy but good all the same. Hope you're in sunny weather and all having a good time.

Devote yourself to something. Honestly, trying and finding that you are good at it really gives you a purpose and something to look forward to even when you've had a really bad day. It's a saviour in times of trouble.

email me if you wish... sacredhamster@hotmail.com. I know, it's an old account hence the odd name. Ask me anything if you want to find out more. I appreciate your interest.

The final frontier

finally, I have finished all that dratted coursework and now all I have to do is revise for my GCSEs- which begin in five days' time. Hahaha. This should be fun.

Instead of spending my time at home looking over all the things I have learnt today I went ice skating instead, and I am taking lessons so I am now roughly grade five in the UK Skate Program. This ain't all too bad considering I only began last week!

Have a good bank holiday monday people.

Tuesday 16 February 2010

greetings once more! Greetings to all my bloggers!

I wonder how you're doing; I've been having some visitss to the blog from people in other countries, quite pleased about that.....although it feels a little weird because it's like there's almost no barrier between the world and I.
Ah, what pleasure it would give me to be able to leave England and go off and travel around the world a little more. I want to visit lots of countries- America, Germany, France again. I think I'd like to go back to Brazil; the climate there was lovely, if a little hot. Ah, lidten to me, the "typical" brit, yodeling on about wanting to go to countries, but thinking they're all either too hot or too cold.
Today I have been doing my work on artist research. I have to research two artists, David Shrigley and Gillian Wearing.

I have finished the page I was making on Gillian Wearing, and I think it's rather good, if I do say so myself, though as I painted it a grey-blue, it made me feel a little melancholy and I began missing those friends that I haven't seen in a long time.
Apologies here, because in my mind, "a long time" can be anything from a few hours to a few billion years. The friends in Question, I have not seen since Thursday, when we all broke up from school. Being in year eleven, there is no real break, as we have to work through the holiday and that pretty much leaves us no time within which we are left to our own devices.

This is probably a good thing; left to my own devices, I climb trees with rope that is not strong as it should be, or I cut my hair short, or I embark on some sort of Mission which takes hours if not days to complete, such as walking all over Bristol. Alas, lately I have had no time to go a-meandering about, and have stayed firmly put in my flat with nothing but a large amount of work to accompany me.

Hopefully things will pick up soon, with the weather finally getting warmer.

February

Apologies for the long gap between this post and the post that exists below; I've had a little trouble with getting work done of late as there appears to have been so much of it! More into the swing of things now, and in my half term, I'm taking a small break so that I can relax in between homework shifts, and take some time to revive after a long school term. Year eleven is hectic, frenetic; preparing for our GCSEs is proving an easy task, but the coursework is fiendish.

Anyway, today I have more than one thing on my mind, for today is the day I apply for my first job.

I've written up a CV, which includes:
Who I am
D.O.B
Where I am
Who I live with
What my predicted grades are
What I will do in the next couple of years
Why I want the job
What I do in my spare time

It's not that much to include, and as long as you format it correctly it's the key into a life of earning money (at last!)

I'm wishing myself, and all you readers, the best for the upcoming months. To any of you who are taking GCSEs, S.A.Ts, A-Levels, good luck.
